Note: Although this will give you the effect of a clipping mask, the difference from a true clipping mask (as in Photoshop) is that if you move or modify the shape, you will need to recreate the mask. When making the mask, try "Show Selection" instead of "Show All". I opened a new document made a shape, inverted, new mask layer, opened photo, copied then pasted as new layer. Then what do I do to get the picture to take on the shape. I opened my photo made a selection, inverted, new mask layer show all. If necessary, invert the mask or invert the selection before making the mask. Make your shape as before with the marquee tool (ie a selection). I've used the marquee tool but tend to lose some of the photo trying to make a certain shape. ![]() ![]() Is there a way to make a photo take on a certain shape? I've seen in other programs where you make a shape then apply a clipping mask and the photo will take on that shape.
